METRICS FOR QUALITY STREETS & PUBLIC SPACES

Observations of people's behaviour to simple factors such as shade or type of seating spaces or tracing walk paths have all proven implications in urban research conducted over years. The scoring of different places in this tool is based on different aspects that any quality public space must have. Many of these significant factors were arrived on by engaging with different experts and studying various place-making and public space projects. These are tangible measurable aspects and hence can be applied to physical infrastructure and public areas.

Different parameters are considered in the scores which are open to citizens to choose.

Along these lines a participatory design activity was also conducted in public park based on the developed tool. Participants of all ages came up with specific activities they would like to happen in the park and what issues are faced as well which were submitted to officers to undertake improvements.
